The AmeriGlide 3 Wheel Traveler is a basic but handy mobility travel scooter that can handle most users’ needs with ease. Just like anything else, it has its own list of advantages and disadvantages, although the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks.
While there are no frills on this chair, all of the necessities are well covered. The Traveler is built with flat-free tires and assembles/disassembles easily. It will fit in almost any car for easy transport, and with the optional in-car charger you can even charge the battery on the go. The whole scooter weighs less than 100 lbs. when fully assembled, making loading and unloading it a lot less stressful. The seat comes in a comfortable 17″ by 17″ size, and the controls are simply laid out. It’s very easily maneuverable, with a tight turning radius and a solid braking system. There is an added benefit in the Freewheel lever, which allows you to switch the scooter into neutral and push it easily if you accidentally run down the battery.
On the other hand, there are a couple of downsides. First, in order to keep the scooter from being too heavy it is built fairly small. The weight capacity is 275 lbs., and if a user is over that the battery will run down much more quickly and the chair will wear out more quickly as well. Users over 275 lbs. would be better served to look into a scooter made to handle their capacity, even if it’s more expensive. The only other downside is that the clips which hook the battery to the motor can be a bit difficult to work with until you get used to them.
Overall, the AmeriGlide 3 Wheel Traveler is a great value at only $549, by far the most inexpensive travel scooter on the market.
